Petition updateThe UN should promote the principles that humanity established at its founding in 1945THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS AND THE PETITION TO THE UN

The recent actions and statements of the President of the United States are yet another confirmation of the course our world is taking. Those who hold power often blatantly defend and prioritize their own interests, weaken the institutions that are meant to restrain their actions, and ignore the serious harm caused to the citizens of the world.

When we learn of the UN Security Council’s resolution on U.S. interference in Venezuela, we will once again confirm the paralysis of this institution.

Politicians who prioritize the interests of citizens (and there are not many of them) lack the capacity to reverse the situation. Only a significant portion of humanity, united around shared objectives and using appropriate means of communication, could reverse it, because what politicians (both democratic and autocratic) fear most is public opinion turning against them.

The values most likely to gain broad acceptance are those agreed upon by 193 countries when the United Nations was founded, as they are the principles collectively established to achieve the well-being and progress of humanity. This is why we advocate their widespread dissemination, so that citizens of the world can adhere to them, defend them, and set them against the actions of autocratic governments.

Until a better alternative emerges to halt the current course of the world, let us support this initiative by actively contributing to its dissemination.

In a different line of thought, and as I did in the previous statement, I submit the following reasoning for your consideration:

  • We are part of the “Earth system,” which evolves in a specific direction, and as human beings we do not have the capacity to modify it. We can destroy ourselves, but we cannot alter the laws that govern the planet’s evolutionary process.
  • Just as we study and are obliged to comply with the rules that regulate the “traffic system,” it is essential to identify, understand, and comply with the laws that the “Earth system” has demonstrably followed throughout its long evolution.
  • In the previous statement I mentioned the clear tendency to generate life that we observe in the evolution of our planet. The second tendency we can observe is “diversity.” The Earth does not generate uniformity, but rather an enormous diversity of living beings. What sense does it make to despise or annihilate those who are not like us, who hold other beliefs, or to imprison those who hold different political opinions? Even if we seek uniformity, the Earth will  always generate diversity.
  •  Just as a drivers will not achieve stability unless they respect the rules of the “traffic system,” humanity will remain immersed in conflict as long as it fails to respect the laws that govern the “Earth system” of which it is a part.

I will continue to submit for your consideration the behaviours necessary to adapt to the “Earth system” of which we are a part. You will see their strong alignment with the principles agreed upon when the United Nations was founded.

Help spread the petition to the UN. Thank you.
