UK Government: accept refugees fleeing Afghanistan

The Issue

Thousands of Afghans are now in danger from persecution. Women and girls may be forced to give up their jobs and occupations, and forced into marriage with Taliban soldiers. Those that helped Western forces, such as translators, are at risk of violent reprisal.

Right now Britain can’t stop the Taliban from retaking Afghanistan, but we can try and protect those facing danger and death, by offering them homes here in the United Kingdom.

The UK Government has promised to accept just 5,000 refugees from Afghanistan each year, for a limited period of time. This isn’t enough. After twenty years in Afghanistan, we can’t turn our backs now.

We are calling on the UK Government to:

Accept all Afghan refugees feeling the Taliban, granting them the right to stay in the UK

Grant permanent status to all those Afghan refugees currently in the UK, putting a stop to the planned deportations
