There has been mass commercial fishing in the waters around Ascension Island and this is threatening the marine eco system.  The beaches of Ascension island are the second largest nesting site for turtles in the south Atlantic.  A MCA has been declared around the Pitcairn Islands and the arguments for that are the same as can be argued for Ascension island.  There are very few MCA areas in the Atlantic and the British Government should continue its pioneering position on the creation of these 'safe havens' for our endangered marine life.
