Make the UK Government take action on dying insect populations!

Make the UK Government take action on dying insect populations!
The Issue
The planet is in crisis. Earth’s insect population is rapidly dwindling. 40% of insect populations are in decline and a third are endangered. We are already on our way to the sixth mass extinction event in world history. This is happening for a number of reasons, the main ones being harmful pesticides, light pollution and habitat loss. The disappearance of insects in our eco system would be catastrophic and would seal humanities death sentence. There would be widespread famine across the planet, and there would be unprecedented ripples across the food chain. The good news is we know what we need to do. A group of over 70 scientists across the globe published an emergency recovery route which includes phasing our synthetic pesticides and fertilisers and aggressive reductions in greenhouse emissions which are destroying natural habitats. So far Germany is the only country that has announced plans to tackle this, promising a €100,000,000 action plan in September 2019 to tackle this crisis. Experts are pleading world leaders to follow suit. So please, please, give we have the chance to fix this before it’s too late, we have the money and the logistics, we just need the government to act. Insect extinction = human extinction. It’s just one of the ways the Earth is collapsing around us but we can put up a pillar of support, we can help prevent part of this. I implore you, sign this petition, hold the UK government to account and save our insects before it’s too late for them, and us. I am a teenager, I’m confronted with the reality of an irreversible apocalyptic future every day. I see it in the news, I hear it on the radio. This takes two minutes to pledge your support and by doing so you are helping save humanity, literally. This is an emergency. I want a future. I want my friends and family to have a future. So I implore you, do your part and sign this petition to stop the extinction of insects and the extinction of humanity.
