The Ugly Truth About Botox: Stop Animal Testing for Vanity

The Ugly Truth About Botox: Stop Animal Testing for Vanity
The Issue
Botox anti-wrinkle treatments use a volatile chemical, botulinum toxin, which paralyses facial muscles. Every single batch of botox is tested on animals. Join a growing list of celebrities and animal welfare organizations in exposing the ugly truth about botox.
In a recent undercover investigation at a U.K. laboratory, anti-animal testing organization, British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection, found that as many as 74,000 mice per year (just at this one lab) were subjected to "one of the cruellest and most controversial animal tests."
Here's how it goes: mice are injected in the abdomen with the botulinum toxin and then the scientists sit back and watch them die. They watch as the toxin causes paralysis to take over the mice until the subjects are gasping for breath and eventually suffocate to death. The scientists aren't interested in providing pain relief, or any kind of relief, for the mice; they're just interested in the mounting body count over the three or four day span of the experiment, at the end of which, any remaining mice were killed. The cost of vanity is high.
Tell the Home Office to stop licensing cruel, unnecessary animal suffering.
