Petition Closed

Congress has been acting like bad little children squabbling all year long. They've done little to help the 29 million jobless Americans get back to work. And now they're deadlocked on extending unemployment benefits.

Extended unemployment benefits lapse on December 31st. Over 2 million jobless Americans will lose their $296 per week benefit in January. Another 1.3 million Americans will lose their benefits in February. What an awful way to start the New Year.

Send your Members of Congress a Lump of Charcoal by signing this petition. Perhaps, that will remind them how desperately jobless Americans need them to act decisively and enact legislation that will put Americans back to work.

Holiday Greetings,

I wish Congress hadn't acted like bad little children, squabbling all year long. But you've done little to help 29 million jobless Americans get back to work. And now you're deadlocked on extending unemployment benefits.

Extended unemployment benefits lapse on December 31st. Over 2 million jobless Americans will lose their $296 per week benefit in January. Another 1.3 million Americans will lose their benefits in February. What an awful way to start the New Year.

So this lump of charcoal's for you. Perhaps, it can remind Congress just how desperately jobless Americans need them to act decisively on extended unemployment benefits and to enact legislation that will put Americans back to work.
