The Turnbull Government is trying to silence charities and environmental groups through its Electoral Legislation Amendment (Electoral Funding and Disclosure Reform) Bill 2017. It aims to hinder charities and environmental groups from speaking out. Here's an excerpt from a Canberra Times story: "The end result will prevent good organisations from speaking out on behalf of the poor, the sick, those with a disability and those who suffer from the effects of climate change. That's everyone. The government is making it as hard as possible to advocate work that saves lives."

This is the suppression of free speech by a government that is trashing the environment and is determined to do all it can to silence its critics. For instance the ability of organisations to advocate to save the Great Barrier Reef would be affected.
