As everyone in Darien has heard, there were two midterms that were breached by academic dishonesty. The students, for their actions, received five days of In School Suspension. What I have found is that most, if not all, of my peers in the tenth grade at DHS are extremely unhappy and angry that such an inconsequential punishment is all the action that has been taken against the students that committed such a large breach of academic honesty. Without real consequences, students will go into adult life with a distorted view of reality. If a school cannot educate and prepare students for their adult lives, then what purpose does a school truly serve? Please sign this petition if you agree with me that Darien High School should level more serious consequences against the students that cheated on their midterms. This cannot go without protest.
