End animal testing in New York State for the better future of millions

The Issue

We live in a world where we are all sadly familiarized with animal testing. It is a worldwide practice that is used every single day to countless amounts of helpless animals. It is estimated that more than 115 million animals are tortured and tested every year with that number just going up, out of that extremely high number only 3 percent on tested on animals survive just be killed by the end of their horrific journey in the lab. It has come out that the truth of the products we use and buy that are said to be “natural” and organic actually have a much darker truth, because whether the company itself doesn't tests the final product on animals, almost always uses a second or third party to do what they are branding for being against and this is still incredibly cruel. Some of the most popular products today took and continue to take the lives of millions of animals if not more. The victims of these lab experiments are typically, mice, fish, rats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, farm animals, birds, cats, dogs, mini-pigs, and non-human primates (monkeys, and in some countries, even chimpanzees) This is just the start of the sad reality of what goes on behind the scene's of these so called high quality and very popular products. The only states in the US that have completely banned animal testing on cosmetics are: California, Illinois, Nevada, Virginia and Maryland, and this ban started only by California 2018. It is highly disappointing in our society today that some people don’t have enough sense to differentiate basic rights from wrong. It becomes a conflicting issue for many people with convenience and  what morally is right when buying cosmetics, candles and e.c.t because many of these companies aren’t very upfront about what they are actually selling and those who suffer behind the lies. Animal testing is certainly not a must and is not the most accurate testing that can be done at the end of the day, the alternatives to animal testing include sophisticated tests using human cells and tissues (also known as in vitro methods), advanced computer-modeling techniques (often referred to as in silico models), and studies with human volunteers where no one gets hurt. An animal test costs $32,000 USD, whereas a vitro test costs $11,000 USD. From these statistics, we see how animal testing costs much more than testing for humans. It is unbelievable to know that a product that is designed for human use costs much more in animal testing than human testing. So who has the power to change this overall and in New York which is currently not a cruelty free state? The answer to that is, The United States Department of Agriculture, or USDA is a huge start,  which is the federal agency responsible for overseeing and inspecting laboratories that experiment on animals, as well as those who breed and sell animals for use in laboratories. We live in a world that anything can happen if you have the will to do it, we just need to realize that this doesn't have to be a must, it doesn't have to be those who don't have a voice suffering for what we create. Everything is deemed impossible till it is achieved so what are we waiting for, it is time to fight for the banning of animal testing in New York in place for once and for all because the reality is that no one is truly safe till EVERYONE is because at the end of the day what make's us better than them? We aren't and we all know that if the roles were reversed we wouldn't be able to take it either. We can make progress and do what is right for every animal out there that needs our support because especially after everything we have put them through it's the least we can do to further prevent another painful decade of lab caused deaths.
