In our class, we have been assigned Chairman's Bao reading every week. However, Chairman's Bao is doing next to no good for the students of the class.

One reason is that Chairman's Bao won't usually result in students genuinely learning. Students may get 100% on all 3 tests that they have to do on the articles they read, but it's not as if they will actually take the time to memorize every detail of the article and take the information with them into the next grade. Additionally, since people dislike Chairman's Bao, they will be more reluctant to learn the material.

Some people may claim that Chairman's Bao does have a use as somewhat of a news source and that the articles that it presents are somewhat interesting. My rebuttal is that the useful things it has are all covered in other classes and even in our daily life. Current events are usually touched upon in social studies, and the weekly assignment aspect is already in PE. 

This is why Chairman's Bao, for all the uses that it does have, is ultimately brought down by the fact that it won't help students learn, and all of the uses it does have are overshadowed by other classes.
