Save St. Andrews felines from this extremely dangerous and inhumane environment
The Issue
Hello my name is Zaynab Zaid and I need your support. I work at a bus yard where as of one year ago, a family of cats have come to find it home. Since the cats have come, there is no longer a rodent issue and some of the complaints of other smaller animals are no longer complaints. However, the attention has now been focused on these animals. There is hate towards them from many workers and from others there is no sympathy. As one can imagine, an operating and fully functional bus yard is no safe place for any animal to live. Outside of the filthy living conditions they are being subjected to, there are also the hazard of the cats and kittens being constantly ran over by careless drivers . Many were healthy and full of personality and since have been killed, become sickly, are badly injured, in need of immediate medical attention and are starving. Myself and two other co-workers have been trying to at the very least provide water and food, but have since come under attack, harassed and even fear possible job loss due to our concern for these animals. Included is an email that I typed to the Stray Cat Alliance that I was told, should be able to assist me with these animals. I sent it in Oct. Of 2015 and have not recieved any response:
To whom it may concern,
My name is Zaynab Zaid and I work on a school bus yard on 60th St. And St. Andrews in Los Angeles, Ca. Since I have been working there (in the last 2 years) there has been a family of cats that have taken refuge in our bus yard. I have come to love these cats as my own and feed them and help them with whatever I can along with a few of my co workers. I am unable to take them home with me due to my apt having a 'no pet' rule which I have still tried to work against due to me owning several cats already. I am now desperately asking for your help with them because as you can imagine, an active bus yard is a dangerous place for any animal. Within the last week I have lost 2 of my cat babies in bus engines and fan where they seek shelter from the cold at night when the buses are all parked. Today I recieved the devestating news that one of the other cats whom I named Courie was hit by someone at my yard as well. There are 9 cats total including 2 twin kittens who all are in danger of being poisoned. Some of my co workers have no love for these beautiful creatures at all and only see them as a nuisance. They have expressed to me that they will be pouring car coolant into their water and put poison out for them to eat. PLEASE PLEASE help me get these cats to safety and away from this yard. I will miss them all dearly. However, knowing that they are safe and around someone kind and loving will bring my heart some ease.I don't think I can deal with another day of me coming to work in the morning and finding out another one of these babies have been poisoned or hurt in any way. One of the workers stated today, "3 down and 9 more to go". These cats are not fixed and do not have any owners save my self proclaming of being their only one. I pray that you all find it in your hearts and the time to give these cats a better life and homes . Thank you so very much for reading and I really hope to hear back from you soon.
-Sincerely believing that when there is a will, there is a way,
