2015 is seeing Governments all around the world rethink the laws on Cannabis. The War on Drugs is widely regarded as a huge failure across the planet, and a new approach is desperately needed.

In Uruguay and the States of Washington, Colorado, Oregon, Washington DC and Alaska in the US, Cannabis has been completely legalised and regulated by the Government. Other countries are lining up to follow suit.

In many other countries Cannabis has been decriminalised for years, with no negative effect on society.

We call on you, The States Of Jersey, to allow possession of small amounts of Cannabis both for medicinal use, for those people suffering who desperately need it, and recreational use, to stop normal otherwise law abiding citizens gaining criminal records which can ruin their lives far more than Cannabis is ever likely to.

The supply and large scale cultivation of Cannabis would remain illegal until the results of full scale legalisation are seen in other countries. The use of Cannabis in a public place would also remain an offence.

All the evidence from countries that have decriminalised suggests that Cannabis use does not increase, and that removal of criminal sanctions may encourage the small percentage of cannabis users who have problems with the substance to get the help they need.
