FREE PALESTINE

FREE PALESTINE
The Issue
I am proud to be a Palestinian-American and want to raise awareness on the problems my country and my people in Palestine are facing.
I am asking people to sign this petition only to be informed.
The opportunities I’ve had to visit the country that both sides of my family come from and witness first hand the effects that the Israeli Occupation has had on our country is beyond words. My eyes have been opened to numerous daily hardships that my people have had to face under this 50+ year long occupation. They've taken Palestinian land and lives. They've taken our freedom. Palestine is FAR from free and I’ve been began searching for ways to help free my country and raise awareness. I have joined the International Solidarity Movement group in NorCal, I am volunteering as a Graphic Designer for PalBox.org, and for my 23rd birthday, I have created this petition in an effort to help raise awareness of the Israeli Occupation and the Free Palestine Movement.
- The purpose of Free Palestine Movement is to defend and advocate for the human rights of all Palestinians.

“FREE PALESTINE”
I remember learning this phrase as a little girl and not really understanding what it meant, but with my visits to Palestine, I have got to experience firsthand how much this phrase has stood and is still standing for.
It is a movement for peace, love, unity, and respect.
During my most recent visit to Palestine, I began documenting my experiences in the form of a memoir titled: A Prisoner In My Own Country. It has not been finished but I have included a short piece about a single problem every Palestinian would face while trying to return home.
EXCERPT
“My Dad is a Palestinian citizen, my sisters and I have dual citizenship. We have two passports, and another separate form of Palestinian identification. In Palestine, we are only recognized as Palestinians. To get to Palestine, any Palestinian citizen must fly to Amman, Jordan. We as Palestinians are not permitted to fly into Israel. Flying into Jordan means we must travel by bus to the Palestinian border, which is armed with Isreali checkpoints and soldiers. The bridge we have to cross is only open during certain times, and the checkpoints we are forced to go through are not made easy for us.”
I hope this petition helps open the eyes of everyone to one of world’s longest-running and most controversial conflicts. There is much more to this conflict, Palestine was recently taken off of every map - not that it was on many before :) and if you weren’t aware of Israel’s Annexation Plan, you can find more info at
