My name is christina langley,i have been a resident of rockingham nc since 1997.Have you wondered what the masses do in the hot summer months?sure alot of them have boats,so they are boating,skiing,tubing but what about the ones who are not fortunate enough to own a vessel?yes thats right,they sit at home,while unhappy hot children sit on there porches,some even in veiw of beautiful belews lake in rockingham county,that they are not allowed ro swim in.Why?because DUkE energy says so.Their reason?i dont know,are they scared trash will be left on their banks?probaley,but what they fail to realize is the hundreds of boaters that visit the lake each year are also leaving,and dumping there trash,busted floats,coolers,broke fishing poles ect. wherever they decide to leave it.what about the boats who have oil leaks,engine problem?is that not also damaging lake property? WE own a bass tracker and are big swimmers,and fisherman.Our engine recently broke, so i have been taking my children swimming off the shoreline of the lake.we went several times,each time i went i picked up trash "Boaters" had left behind,brought home and put in my own trashcan. This last time we were escorted off by a policeman.why?because we didnt have a vessel.THIS IS UNFAIR AND FALLS UNDER UNEQUAL RIGHTS! DESCRIMINATION;by not having enought money to buy a boat citizens are being denied the right to swim; we need to share the same privledges as everone else,no matter our materialistic value!!! if you agree with me,please sign this petition.its time for change
