The Issue

A white, South Carolina man, Jason Roger Pope, 42, popularly known as "DJ KID," has been charged with committing multiple sex offenses against women and young girls, some as young as 13.  These crimes include  three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, promoting prostitution of a minor, and kidnapping.  Shockingly, Mr. Pope is HIV positive and all of his victims are African American women and girls.

Despite the revelation of this disturbing detail, Mr. Pope currently faces NO CHARGES for intentionally infecting these women with HIV.  This is simply unacceptable, especially considering the fact that Mr. Pope has openly bragged on social media, and in text messages, about purposefully infecting over 600 black women and young girls with the virus.

Furthermore, Mr. Pope has openly stated in a text message, that he took pride in infecting black women with HIV, in the hopes that they would pass the virus on to black males.

Jason Roger Pope’s, devious calculated plan to systematically kill African American people with HIV, warrants more aggressive action from the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.  Mr. Pope should be charged not only with sexual offences, but with the crime of intentionally infecting hundreds of black women with HIV.

Furthermore, because he racially targeted these women, hate crimes charges should also be laid against Mr. Pope.

Mr. Pope’s Facebook page is saturated with graphic and disturbing images of him in sexually explicit poses with African American women and girls.  While these images are vile and disturbing, they unfortunately provide his Defense attorneys with a strong legal argument that Mr. Pope’s sex crimes were in fact consensual.  This is especially troubling, considering that the age of consent in South Carolina is 16.  Therefore, it would not take much for a crafty attorney to portray all or most of Mr. Pope’s sexual encounters as consensual, and thereby have him acquitted of his monstrous offenses.

This is yet another reason why it is vitally important for all of us to DEMAND NOW that the South Carolina Attorney General’s office properly charge Mr. Pope.

Please sign this petition to protect the black community from a dangerous perpetrator who, by his own shocking admission, has targeted over 600 African American women and girls for transmission of HIV.
