Pietermaritzburg has been hit in the worst way.... Our leaders have failed us. The power disaster could have been avoided however our mayor was busy finding other things. Certain maintenence as well as upgrades was supposed to be done on our power systems. He also failed to ensure that our firefighters had all equipments and resources. When they were on scene at Northdale Primary they could not stop the fire due to having no powder to put it off, it was apparently his deputy who was in charge of that. Simply states that we could have had power ages ago... The damage would have been less. We are going onto a whole week without electricity or a statement from our beloved mayor.

We need a change now. The mayor and his deputy are not competent and need to be removed. Pietermaritzburg is on its knees and we cannot go on any longer. Staging "clean ups"  is part of his job and is nothing life changing. It is clear he does not care and we need to remove the dead weight. We in Pietermaritzburg are people who care about our community as displayed during the unrest and we are the city of choice... Maybe not now but our people are and deserve more than this. We do not have proper service delivery. It extends to more than one area. Our city is not handled with care. This issue affects us all.
