Prosecute AfriForum for spreading misinformation

The Issue

AfriForum has once again been caught red-handed spreading harmful, divisive misinformation - this time regarding the government bailout during the Covid-19/Coronavirus lockdown.

The organisation is falsely claiming that the South African government will only assist small business if they are 51% black-owned. This is a false story, designed to divide our country and paint the ANC government as vicious, vindictive and hateful towards white people.

Government has pledged to help SMEs (small-to-medium-businesses) [1] and it is clear from their application form on their official website that no such criteria needs to be met. [2]

Trusted news outlet The Citizen News has already debunked this claim. [3]

Meanwhile, AfriForum has shared this on their various platforms, causing outrage and hatred in a time where we need trust in government more than ever.  This is part of an ongoing smear campaign against the South African government in order to race-bait the white population of South Africa, including absurd claims that the ANC is behind the slaughter of white farmers.

We call upon the South African government of ALL parties to prosecute AfriForum for their ongoing slew of race-baiting, divisive and unlawful misinformation.
