A change to the grading scheme in soen 331 Winter semester at concordia
The Issue
The grades for the 331 class is scaled. Meaning a 77 could land you a c+ , appose to the more traditional B+ for that grade. The philosophy behind the way they scale the grades is certain amount people will get grade x and others grade y etc.. ; this is awful. If we all did well in the class; knew the material and our grades reflected it with 90's, than the one who got 90.5 would get a D and the one who got a 95 would get an A given this grading scheme. Even though both students did well. Further the way scaling works is as if you are competing with your fellow student rather than learning together to both better yourselves. I call on the software engineering department at concordia university to change this outdated grading policy and switch to one that actually reflects what the student deserves.
