On December 14, 2019 the owners of Willow Brook Golf Course announced they had closed the course in South Windsor, CT. The residents of South Windsor are concerned with what may be done to the land. As with many New England towns, development in South Windsor has come at the price of open space. We, the residents of South Windsor, CT are petitioning to keep Willow Brook, which has been so well maintained by The Shepard Family as open space.

Because Willow Brook has been, “an excellent environment for beginners, families, and juniors” and hosted a great middle school golf program, and a well set-up driving range, the following proposal is offered:

• Turn Willow Brook Golf Course into either a town or state park.
• Keep the driving range and front nine.
• Continue to offer kids programs, and general public practice and golf (which can draw revenue).
• Allow for winter season snow shoeing and cross-country skiing.
• Maintain the cart paths for walking, running, and bicycling trails.
• Offer private rentals of the clubhouse (in the same manner that the Pavilion at Nevers Park is rented and utilized). 

By keeping Willow Brook open space the benefits to the town, local wildlife, and area residents can contiue to be shared for generations.
