PART1 - #UmbrellaNine!

Message from Professor Chan Kinman on what may happen after April 9:

Dear friends,

The verdict of the Umbrella Movement Trial will be handed down on Apr. 9.  There is a possibility that we will be detained immediately if we are found guilty.  In view of this, I need to let you know how you could continue to communicate with me. A "KM Support Group" has been established by my wife Tracy and other volunteers.  They will manage this email account (kmchancuhk@gmail.com) as well as my Facebook page (English and  Chinese) including the Messenger.  You may just write to me via these accounts.  Tracy, lawyers, and some Legislative Councilors will be constantly in touch with me if I have to go to jail.  I will also let you know the location of the prison and my prison number so that you can write letters to me directly.

I am very calm facing this possible saga as I organized the movement out of my conscience and have tried my very best to keep it in a peaceful manner.  I am more concerned about whether our imprisonment, if any, could draw more attention from local and international communities to the unjust situation in Hong Kong and how the authoritarian China exercises its sharp power here.  I need your help to spread the message.

Best regards,

Kinman
