Petition updateEND FARM MURDERS IN SOUTH AFRICAWHAT I HAVE LEARNT FROM ADAMA DIENG – UN SPECIAL ADVISOR ON THE PREVENTION OF GENOCIDE

Dear supporter of this petition Thank you for your unwavering support to stop farm murders in South Africa. Adama Dieng witnessed what happened in Rwanda. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=PjXBpBbGyxA He left Rwanda two days before the genocide occurred and was amongst the first to call the international community for a commission of inquiry to be established. Today, I call upon Mr. Adama Dieng to establish a commission of inquiry into the persistent, planned, targeted killing of farmers of a particular ethnic group in South Africa. I have documented evidence that will prove beyond reasonable doubt the planned killings are inspired by racial hatred inspired by certain South African politicians towards that specific ethnic group. Unlike Rwanda, we do not have to wait for a full-scale ethnic cleansing to happen in South Africa before we take action. I agree with the former Secretary General of the UN, Ban Ki Moon’s sentiments that ‘prevention is key to making the world a better place’. If we act right now, the ethnic cleansing of a particular ethnic group in South Africa can be prevented. It is the role of each of us, including national governments, civil society, religious institutions, and every mature citizen of a country to stand up and fight against the scourge of genocide and ethnic cleansing. This is my main reason for being persistent in my attempts to get an appointment to personally visit the UN to meet with Mr. Adama Dieng. As an African, I am very familiar and mindful of what happened in Rwanda. Identity conflict is at the heart of the early signs of ethnic cleansing in South Africa. There is presently no initiative or national action plan for atrocity prevention in South Africa. South African politicians who use hate speech to incite ethnic violence are not being held accountable by our government or our human rights institutions. The United Nations provides several tools that can be used by civil society to prevent genocide, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity in a country such as: 1) Establishing a Commission of inquiry to establish the truth of what is happening in South Africa regarding ethnic cleansing; 2) Diplomatic sanction; 3) Mediation support; 4) Judicial settlements of Disputes; 5) Referral to the International Criminal Court (ICC) Everyone has a role and a responsibility to prevent genocide and atrocity crimes in South Africa. We cannot rely on government, the judiciary, state institutions and chapter 9 institutions only. We should establish an ATROCITY PREVENTION BOARD OF SOUTH AFRICA, similar to the one in the USA, consisting of retired judges, religious leaders, and prominent leaders of civil society in South Africa to ensure that genocide and ethnic cleansing never occur in our beloved country. See: https://www.state.gov/j/atrocitiesprevention/ “In August 2011, the President issued Presidential Study Directive 10 and subsequently approved several steps to strengthen the U.S. government’s ability to foresee, prevent, and respond to genocide and mass atrocities. The Study Directive led to the establishment of an the Atrocities Prevention Board (APB), a mechanism chaired at the National Security Council that involves senior officials from 10 agencies and offices across government, to support more focused monitoring and response to potential atrocity risks.” “Mass atrocities -- large-scale, deliberate violence against civilians -- have devastating human impacts and make peace and reconciliation more difficult to achieve. In order to effectively respond to potential mass atrocities, we must focus on and understand this type of violence, and ensure that our diplomatic approaches and programs address it. By engaging experts, improving our analysis, building the knowledge of staff and partners, and developing our understanding of the most effective diplomatic and programming responses, the Department is improving its ability to respond to potential mass atrocities.” I WISH TO THANK OUR VOLUNTEERS IN SOUTH AFRICA, THE LADIES, WHO ARE DOING THE ADMIN OF OUR SOCIAL MEDIA, ZELDA AND MADELEINE, AND NOW ALSO JOINED BY TALITA.
