Stop the Installation of a New NBN Tower at Northern Heights

The issue

"Give Me a Home Among the Gumtrees..." - Not NBN Towers!

The Rural City of Murray Bridge has received an application from NBN Co Ltd seeking the approval of a new tower on Doyle Road in Northern Heights, a suburb less than 5 minutes from Murray Bridge's town centre. This 40m high tower with 3 panel antennas (1 x 900mm and 1 x 600m) and 3 remote radio units mounted at varying heights will be installed on the property directly behind ours.

We are not opposed to advances in technology nor do we want to stop more people from having better internet access but we do oppose the installation of this tower in a residential area. Near our house and others. Where people are raising children and animals and trying to create their own country sanctuaries.

We don't want to raise our children under a tower.

There is PLENTY of evidence indicating that low level Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR) causes harm.

Reported symptoms include,

Headaches

Dizziness

Anxiety

Deterioration in Vision

Fatigue

Heart Palpitations

High Blood Pressure

With increased likelihood of Cancer, Infertility and DNA Damage.

Children are more susceptible to the penetration of radiation due to their thinner skulls, softer bones, underdeveloped immune system and developing cells.

So why the vast differences in results between Teleco reports (advocating safety) and independent studies (advocating precautionary actions)? Teleco reports rarely focus on biological effects whereas independent studies focus on the longterm effects of these.

In May 2011 the World Health Organisation (WHO) categorised EMR as being a "possible Carcinogen" - Category 2B. The same category as lead, DDT, dry cleaning chemicals and pesticides.

And there are the practical issues. The noise of the installation, the ongoing maintenance and the decrease in our property's value. Would you purchase a house sitting beneath a tower?

The Rural City of Murray Bridge received NBN Co's application on the 29th of May with local landowners advised of this application on the 7th of August; we've been given just 2 weeks to oppose the application (deadline 22nd August).

PLEASE SUPPORT US IN OUR BID TO KEEP OUR SKYLINE AND LIVES TOWER-FREE!
