The Issue

The general elections will not be decided on what type of brexit a party can deliver but on domestic policy.

Recent reforms to benefit include:

Freezing the value of benefits for four years
Lowering the overall benefit cap to £20,000
Tax Credits and Universal Credit two child limit
Employer Childcare Vouchers stopped
Housing benefit removed for young people
ESA Work-Related Activity component abolished
State Pension Age raised
Benefit sanctions imposed
ESA and DLA assesments changed leading to an increase in zero point outcomes
Parts of the Social Fund are abolished
Benefit appeal rights are changed

A more comprehensive timetable of these changes can be found here: https://www.turn2us.org.uk/Benefit-guides/Benefit-Changes/Benefit-Changes-Timetable-2018#guide

What the goverment is saying: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/2010-to-2015-government-policy-welfare-reform/2010-to-2015-government-policy-welfare-reform

It would seem austerity does not mean we are all in it together but rather the poorest in our society continue to suffer cuts in goverment spending.
