With your great support in 2016, the campaign is now close to 1500 signatures and continues to gather pace. We have received overwhelming support from many local community leaders, councillors, community groups, and widespread positive coverage in the local and London media. We continue to lobby The Royal Parks (TRP) and Richmond Borough Council. They are now acutely aware of our concerns for the safety of local cyclists now diverting around the park onto the dangerous A308/311 roads, in order to access Hampton, Hampton Pool or Teddington. Unfortunately however, TRP management remain out of touch with their heads stuck firmly in the sand. They clearly believe - even in 2017 - that they have no obligations or duty of care to the local community of park users. And they continue to chose imposition above listening, proper consultation and engagement. So in 2017, we will redouble our campaign efforts, by continuing to lobby community leaders and The Royal Parks for a fairer, more reasonable and proportionate solution for the Dukes Head Path. Simple signs, asking all park users to show 'mutual care and respect', are all that is required. The heavy-handed sledgehammer solution to ban cycling is not the answer. What more can you do? You can help by writing directly to Royal Parks Chief Exec. Andrew Scattergood (AScattergood@royalparks.gsi.gov.uk ) and to MP Tania Matthias (tania@tania4twickenham.co.uk). And you can share the petition more widely with friends and family. We will keep you informed of progress. Thanks again for your continuing support!
