This petition is made to ask the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada to create a pathway/license for the Internationally Educated Medical specialists to practice medicine in their specialty field in Canada. The currently available path is for a limited number of specialists who have completed their training in specific countries like the UK, US, and Australia. However, for the majority who did their residency training in other countries, there is no pathway. The royal college of physicians and surgeons of Canada is not offering any route for these specialists to practice medicine in Canada, these are doctors who had spent at least ten years in medical schools and residency training programs.  They have two choices left, either to find any job to support their families or they seek job opportunities in their field outside Canada.
Canadians are waiting for a long time to be seen by specialist physicians because of the shortage, but in reality, there are many available Internationally Educated Medical Specialists being locked from practice.

Some suggestions for The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada:

1.     Adopt "Short term training in a medical specialty pathway" which is already one of the existing pathways in Australia for International Medical Specialists. Provide training for 6 months up to 2 years to meet the Canadian qualifications, then the specialist should be assessed accordingly.
2.     Create a restricted license to practice under supervision for couple of years, then let the specialist to be assessed accordingly by their supervisors and get the Independent License.
