The Issue

Do you have a choice?

As of 2026, 71% of all images on social media are AI generated, and 52% of all content online is AI. When scrolling through short-form content: up to 5 in 10 videos are AI generated or contain some form of AI content.

While this issue may seem small compared to others, AI generated content is being forced upon us at every scroll. Music, reels, shorts, TikTok’s, google searches, images, ADs; all of these forms of AI generative content are becoming increasingly impossible to avoid due to the lack of laws in place to protect our ‘democratic’ country, especially those who are vulnerable adults and children.

When it comes to regular content, users have the option to block accounts, to click ‘not interested’ to avoid content they don’t want to see; however, AI content is almost unavoidable when using any form of social media now.

I believe that everyone has the right to choose what content them and their children are exposed to, and AI content should not be an exception. Your child should be able to watch educational videos without being told that the word giraffe starts with a B, or that 1 x 8 = 12.

AI harms so much more than just our planet and water supply. AI content is damaging our education system, economy and job market, digital literacy, and consumer rights every single day.

I believe that companies such as Meta should be responsible for providing consumers with the option to disable AI generated content on their social media apps, and if you would like to be given the right to choose the content you view in the UK, please consider signing this petition.
