The Republic of Somaliland must be RECOGNIZED

The Republic of Somaliland must be RECOGNIZED
The Issue
In June 1960 the United Kingdom granted then British-Somaliland its full independence. After only a few days, the people of Somaliland decided a Greater Somalia (Somaliland+Somalia) would be more beneficial for all Somalis living in the Horn of Africa. That was the crucial moment, Somalilanders call it a terrible mistake, Somaliland handed-in its own independence. The expectation was a bright future for all. Unfortunately, Somaliland got discrimination, oppression and eventually a genocide in return from Somalia. A war broke out. By ending the war in 1991, Somaliland declared independence by seceding from Somalia.
Despite having reclaimed its independence from Somalia over 26 years ago, The Republic of Somaliland (also known as Somaliland) remains unrecognised by every member of the international community – despite the fact that it has a functioning government, held multiple democratic elections and fully fulfills the criteria of statehood of the Montevideo Convention 1933.
Due to its isolation its economy struggles to develop, yet, nobody is helping Somalilanders out of poverty. Therefore, concerns are rising over the health and safety of its people and the fragility of its stability, as Somaliland is surrounded by state(s) dealing with terrorism.
Till this day multiple mass graves, found in Somaliland, are being researched. There is no doubt that they are from the genocide during the earlier mentioned war. And again, the international community is turning a blind eye to it by not acknowledging the horrific act against Human Rights performed by Somalia.
Every state so far told Somaliland that Somalia is the one that should recognize Somaliland. Or that another country should take the lead and that the international community will then follow. This is absolutely unjustful to Somaliland, as Somalia will not even admit to the genocide. Also, the fact that the international community clearly does not want to reward Somalilands achievements is beyond ridiculous.
The Republic of Somaliland deserves to be recognized NOW more than ever, as it proved to be the prime example of patience, peace, stabillity and democracy.
The people of Somaliland & Somalilanders all around the world urge the international community to officially recognise The Republic of Somaliland as an independent country and allow it to fully take its place in the world.
