Losing a child is every parent’s biggest fear and unlikely this evil forced us to face that fear. Someone not only made us stare that fear in the face but made it a reality. On Wed, 7 Oct Ridhi, 2.5 years died not from leukemia, but the lack of due diligence on the doctor's part. She was on her the way to wellness, bravely fighting towards the harsh side-effects of those 15 months of treatment.

Never in a million tears would We have believed that our love for Ridhi would be put to the test, but it was. I never believed that we would be forced to walk away from our sweet, beautiful daughter whom we all loved so much. We all together fought bravely, but yet in that instant, I realized that anything worth fighting for was long just gone. I know this evil, we lost Ridhi due to someone else’s fault and I am here and I haven’t forgotten her, It is the evil that took her from us no matter how hard we fought but we haven’t stopped loving her...for a cause I will consider to get the clarity "on what goes wrong" as the my last regards to Angel baby Ridhi.

Baby Ridhi Chauhan, aged 2 year was admitted to Dharamshila Hospital and Research Center (DHRC) in 5th Aug'14, wherein she gets treatment for Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Since after almost 15 months of treatment we were about to success of the treatment because doctors had confirmed that there is no evidence of disease but due to post transplant GVHD Baby Ridhi was on daily high dosage steroid (Solu-Medrol) and that on 1/10/2015 we were again asked by Dr. Suparno Chakrabarti and Dr. Sarita Rani Jaiswal of Dharamshila Hospital to immediately arrange high cost medicine INJ.SIMULECT, INJ.ORENCIA, and INJ.REMICADE, and Ridhi got infused with INJ. ORENCIA, Inj. SIMULECT,  on 1/10/2015 and INJ.REMICADE on 2/10/2015 and thereafter the body of the Ridhi started swallowing at the hospital but there was no proper treatment given by the hospital authorities.

Later we came to know but it was too late that it is clearly declared by FDA (Food and Drug Administration) that the INJ.REMICADE is not recommended with the INJ.ORENCIA (ABATACEPT). Therefore, it is pertinent to mention here that immediately after the infusion of the above said medicine the condition of the patient abruptly worsened but there again there was no major precaution taken on the part of the hospital authorities. It is also violation of - 'contraindications & warning' issued by its Manufacturer in Inj. Remicade product monograph whereas the Supreme court has unequivocally stated in "Malay Kumar Ganguly vs Dr. Sukumar Mukherjee [2009(9)SCC 221] that any violation of the drug manufacture’s direction in the product information monograph by the doctor would amount to medical negligence".

Again, it is pertinent to mention here that hospital authorities did not specified, even at once about the true condition of the patient to the family during this course of admission in their hospital. Even though she was admitted for breathing difficulties and was continue on >8L/min O2 flow with only simple face mask during the last hospitalization, no senior Pulmonologist visited to the patient to check her condition and nothing was done to remove fluid from lungs of the patient and also no proper treatment was given for her pulmonary conditions, and it is pertinent to mention here that during the whole course of the long stay in hospital she was not shifted to ICU(intensive care unit) as a result was declared dead on 7/10/2015 in hospital.

There is not even an iota of doubt that the condition of the patient worsened because of wrong medication of INJ.REMICADE and INJ.ORENCIA administered by Dr. Suparno Chakrabarti and Dr. Sarita Rani Jaiswal of Dharamshila Cancer Hospital which ultimately led to death of the Baby Ridhi. It is manifestly clear that the untimely death of the Ridhi has been caused because of gross negligent medical treatment done at Dharamshila Hospital, New Delhi.

Today Ridhi is no longer with us, but what we are left with many unanswered questions?? Many more questions have arised due to this shameful act where medical care and attention is replaced by ignorance and negligence causing untimely death of child.

PS: The lead doctor of this treatment is Dr. Suparno Chakrabarti and Dr. Sarita Rani Jaiswal of Dharamshila Hospital and Research Center, New Delhi

Case Updates:

·        We have received the feedback from FDA on Thu, Oct 15, 2015 about contrary medicine INJ.REMICADE and the INJ.ORENCIA (ABATACEPT).

·        After getting further opinion from other doctors and lawyers, we have submitted an application at Dharamshila Hospital CEO office on Nov 30, 2015 but even after sending so many call and reminders didn’t received the documents by the date Dec 20, 2015.

·        On or about Dec 26, 2015, we had filed a formal complained to Delhi Medical council (DMC), Medical Council of India (MCI) and to The Secretary, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, and Govt. of India.

·        On or about Dec 26, 2015, had sent communication to DRUGS CONTROLLER GENERAL OF INDIA, CDSCO (Central Drugs Standard Control Organization), Indian Medical Association, Manufacturer of INJ.REMICADE and the INJ.ORENCIA (ABATACEPT) etc.

·        As on date Jan 18 2016, The Complaint was taken up for screening before the Executive Committee of the Delhi Medical Council and was directed that a Specialist Oncologist to be co-opted.

·        As on latest status complaint is under consideration with Delhi Medical Council, The Ethics Committee considered the matter and sought 15 days’ time to file the reply from these jerks, notice to be sent to Hospital.

·        Dharamshila replied to the Delhi Medical Council attaching Vague and Forged documents, same has been investigated in forensic report of Handwriting expert, seeking legal advice for filing Police complaint and criminal case.
