We must break the cycle of impunity and bring the perpetrators to justice.
An unthinkable case of animal cruelty shocked Akademgorodok – scientific center of Novosibirsk. A ginger cat, Martin, had been founded wrapped in a garbage bag after cruel thugs tortured animal: cut off paws, skinned and decapitated it before tossing into a dumpster around the neighborhood on Monday, August 5, 2019 in Novosibirsk, Russia.
Martin had been well known among the neighbors as the free-ranged cat. The security cameras have often recorded that. So, at the day of its murder, Martin had been inside the house at 3:44 p.m. Young girl, Anna (name is changed according to the requirements of Russian law), a neighbor, followed him through the front door of the multi-family housing block. Martin didn't come out after that.
Anna lives with her roommate, Sveta (name is also changed). After all, it was her who threw a garbage bag with a dead Martin's body in the dumpster at 5:53 p.m.
Cat's owner, Uliana Khramova, had found the dead body of Martin only at the next day, August 6, and at 3:00 p.m., she called the police. According to the search protocol, animal bodies and containers with animal parts: the different skulls, skeletons and remains have been discovered in the Anna’s apartment. According to some reports, animal’s skulls were made available for sale over the Internet.
Local inhabitants of the house repeatedly complained to the police about the sound of animal abuse, coming from inside the apartment, and the extremely strong putrid smell.
Even though one of these girls was under the care of Child Welfare Authorities and listed by the police, they had done nothing about it. The work with this girl is not sub-standard in terms of work done appearing on the registry of Internal Affairs , the work not performed by the inspectors for the Affairs of Minors , social education units of educational establishments, and associated health bodies.
"The pictures are horrific," wrote the animal rescue community on social media. "The feeling of not saving these animals is indescribable."
Whoever committed this despicable act is still walking the streets at large . And they are a danger to not just animals, but children and all other residents of the community . Time and time again, it has been shown that those who torture and kill animals move on to human victims next. For the sake of both animals and people, it is imperative that police apprehend and prosecute the sick individual who committed this brutal crime.
Sign this petition to urge the Police to make finding this animal's killer a top priority and make it clear that such cruelty to animals will not be tolerated.
