Sinéad O'Connor is currently trying to make money off her autobiography. That in itself is not an issue. The issue is that she has invented a story that Prince "beat her up", which she essentially claimed is "because he didn't like my cover of his song". This story has been corroborated by absolutely no one.

The story contains various elements that, if you knew anything about Prince, show that it was invented, such as her claiming his bodyguard told her "he don't like light". Prince had his Paisley Park facility designed with multiple skylights, an atrium surrounding the entrance, and his office has been pictured over the years flooded with daylight. This is not the design choice of someone who "doesn't like light". She also claimed that she didn't go straight to the police after it happened because she "was just glad to be out of there". If she HAD gone to the police, the fact is, they would have very easily found Prince's DNA on her (because DNA tracing had been discovered when she claimed it happened). But she chose not to. The reason she chose not to is because it never actually happened.

She chooses to only claim this happened now that Prince is not around to defend his honour, and has made a conscious choice to damage his reputation with pure fiction, in order to gain profit resulting from the sensationalism.

There is also no woman, who has spent any substantial time with Prince over the years, who has even suggested Prince was ever physically violent with them, nor anyone they knew. If there was a grain of truth, no one has anything to lose by coming forward. The fact that no one has, should speak volumes about Sinead's story. 

Furthermore, she seeks to carry on performing her cover of "Nothing Compares 2 U" also for profit. She has been performing this as recently as late 2020. So she simultaneously and erroneously seeks to profit from trashing his reputation, then singing one of his songs (in fact, the only song that anyone knows her for at all and that has sustained her career).

The Prince Estate and Warner Music are hereby called upon to stop Sinéad O'Connor from performing, and profiting from, "Nothing Compares 2 U", as she has now been shown to be cynically exploiting him purely for her own financial gain. This is unfairly damaging to his reputation and is not based on any evidence - and is being presented as factual. It is nothing but a disgusting smear, coming from a woman with a history of inventing stories. 

Please sign my petition in order to preserve the legacy of Prince, and to send a message that it is not acceptable to invent malicious, defamatory stories without any evidence at all, and then seek to profit from what is quite obviously pure fiction.
