There are reservations in government jobs for people of different descriptions. We have Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes/OBC's and some others. Many more are claiming in a gate crashing manner. It is said, many times rightly so, that their forefathers were persecuted; or not given proper opportunity to prosper. Appears to be logical but with no concrete evidence. May be their forefathers were part of the lethargic people. May be their forefathers were really denied opportunities. Whatever way it is, wrongs are being rectified.

             On the other hand, Kashmiri Pandits were not persecuted by Mughal Empire or British Empire. It happened  in free India before our own eyes. They were uprooted from their homeland, deprived of their properties with no hope of return. There is no serious proposal of their return or proper settlement even during Governor's Rule in J&K. It shows it is unlikely in near future. This is proved by practical facts known to all of us. The relief India can give them is reservation in government service, in Central Govt  as well as in J&K state. They may be considered as Scheduled Caste or OBC. Sounds a bit crazy! But there is nothing in the legal system or the Constitution of India that a Kashmiri Brahmin can not be declared to be Scheduled Caste or OBC. In every case, modalities of implementation are immaterial. Govt may find out its own way of doing it.  My only request is that it deserves to be done and it should be done. I seek your support.
