Just days after the UK government has cancelled the vote for relaxing the foxing ban for fear of losing, officials have announced plans to open a massive breeding facility that sells puppies for animal testing.

The facility is set to be located in a Grimston, near Hull. This is Britain’s second facility – the existing one, located in Harlan breeds about 3, 000 dogs each year. It will breed beagles which will be later sold for vivisection purposes, meaning that the defenceless dogs will be cut open and will be experimented on while still conscious.

The circumstances of which this facility has been approved are also interesting, since the East Riding of Yorkshire Council has rejected the proposal to build the facility in Grimston two years ago, but the Secretary of State Greg Clark recently overturned this decision. This will allow to B&K Universal to build the facility. B&K belongs to an American corporation, Marshall BioResources, that operates similar testing facilities around the world; they breed and sell countless animals for vivisection purposes. 

Beagles are often chosen for experiments due to the their calm, placid nature, that also has transformed them into the perfect family pets.

This decision only comes to show the lack of compassion, common sense and intelligence of the government.

Please sign the petition and urge the UK government to rescind the decision to approve this facility. We, the undersigned, strongly feel that alternative methods should be used. Testing on animas is highly unethical and unacceptable! Such facilities support a shameful trade and they should become a thing of the past!
