Replies from PETA and Sir David Attenborough about pigeons

Further to my recent updates, below is an extract from the email I have received from PETA, whose support I had requested in stopping pigeon abuse -

We share your concerns about pigeons. We know all too well how they suffer at the hands of cruel or thoughtless humans.  As much as we wish it were different, we have to use our limited resources effectively. To this end, we are working to bring an end to Cross Channel pigeon racing - where tens of thousands of birds perish every year. We also regularly give advice to the public on how to help birds trapped in netting.  And, every chance we get, we remind the public about how amazing these animals are and that they deserve our respect.

To see some of the actions we've taken to help pigeons, please visit this page on our website.

As explained previously, it is against our policy to post links to any other groups, sites or petitions on our website. We receive countless requests to do this. If we were to honour all of them, we wouldn’t have room for anything else.

We wish you the very best of luck with your petition, and we thank you for all your hard work and dedication to making the world a kinder place for pigeons.”

This is very disappointing.  Stopping speciesism is one of PETA’s campaigns.  Their support would have helped to give this petition a tremendous boost.

Sir David Attenborough has also declined to support this petition.  Nevertheless, he did make a television series on Eden, entitled “Natural Curiosities”, which featured pigeons.  Series 4 was broadcast in June 2017 and Number 2 in the series, which was entitled “Finding the Way”, describes the amazing navigational and homing skills of pigeons.

I am still waiting to hear from the BBC, Classic fm and the Green Party.

Public places and parks need to be made safe for EVERYONE; security cameras would help to protect pigeons from abuse, identify the bullies and protect people who defend pigeons from being threatened.

See my petition link below. Please sign and share -

It currently has 12,016 signatures. Let’s get to 15,000.

Children love this song.

Please contact MPs, the media and celebrities to raise awareness of this petition.  We need to stop the abuse of pigeons, and the abuse of people who defend pigeons -  particularly women.

Thank you.
