Pigeons deserve better than to be kicked and chased in Parks and public places. They saved thousands of human lives in wartime, as vital messengers. Is this their reward for their sacrifice - to be relentlessly abused?
Vets, and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds agree that there is “no tangible health risk” to humans from contact with pigeons, and that the whole 'rats with wings' concept is emotive nonsense. There is no evidence to show that pigeons spread disease. Please refer to the Internet for details.
Despite this, there are still notices in public places, claiming that pigeons are a health hazard. These fuel the hostility towards pigeons.
Pigeon abuse causes upset and deep distress to both pigeons and people. It is undemocratic and unfair.
