Pigeons are tormented, kicked and chased, in parks and public places, just for existing, yet these noble birds saved thousands of human lives, during both World Wars, as messengers.  Pigeons were carried on ships, planes and submarines, and if a vessel came under attack, a pigeon would be sent out to summon help, with a message attached to its leg. They saved people and even whole towns, yet their brilliant wartime service has now been overlooked.  Let’s end their torment and remember how they helped save our nation, during its darkest days of war.  Let’s give pigeons the respect they deserve!
