NO TO COAL IN PALAWAN: HELP PALAWAN PROTECT ITS ENVIRONMENT

The Issue

We, the people of Palawan, in unity with the rest of the world who care about protecting the environment, unequivocally state that we are one in saying NO TO COAL IN PALAWAN.  We object on environmental, social, health and technological concerns to the construction of a Coal-Fired Power Plant (CFPP) in Palawan because, compared to any other energy source, CFPPs, in whatever form, are the biggest source of man-made carbon emissions, contributing approximately 35% of global greenhouse gas emissions.  Coal contains the most carbon dioxide per British Thermal Unit (BTU), and to allow a CFPP to be constructed in Palawan contravenes the commitment of the Philippines to cut by 70% its carbon emissions by 2030, as well as the newly signed Commission on Climate Change Resolution No. 2016-001 by the President laying down the policy to cut down dependence on coal.

The people of Palawan, the Philippines, and of the world, say NO TO COAL IN PALAWAN. Please sign the Petition.
