Formal Recognition of Irish Military Service at Jadotville in 1961 #JADOTVILLE

Formal Recognition of Irish Military Service at Jadotville in 1961 #JADOTVILLE

The Issue

What do we want the Government to do?

1. The Irish Government to reject the report

2. Request Chief of Staff to set up a medals board to review Jadotville recommendations

Commandant Patrick Quinlan recommended medals are awarded to those who served with great distinction at Jadotville in 1961 as part of aThe UN Peace Keeping efforts

They went to do a job, to represent our Nation, to keep the Peace in a very troubled region, they did not have the equipment or support to do the job, their colleagues couldn’t get through to help them. Yet they stood their ground to the last Man, until they ran out of water, which was put in tainted containers, making it undrinkable, they ran out of ammunition against a force of experienced Mercenaries and local militia much larger and stronger than them, what did they do?
They still stood firm!
Even as they were conveniently forgotten upon their return home.

They are the pride of the Irish Nation as they set the Gold Standard for all future Irish Peacekeeping Missions
Irish Peacekeepers now have a long and we’ll respected reputation in hot spots around The World.
Those that we call Leaders in the Defense Forces have let them down.

We The People now need to step up and get this rectified in memory of those that have passed and in honor of those still with us
