ANIMAL WELFARE NEEDS A SEPARATE MINISTRY.

The Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) is toothless in many aspects and continues to be a paper filling and filing organisation without any real contribution to what it’s meant for, animals! Even the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals act(PCA) is as old as 1960. To give you an example: Anyone who is harming an animal can just get away with a fine of Rs.50/- still. There was no attempt to renew these fines and revive Laws which are so out dated.
Hence we decided to make a request to the Prime Minister, Honourable Mr. Narendra Modi and the President of India, Honourable Mr. Pranab Mukherjee to address this issue directly. We humbly request them vide this petition, to immediately dissolve AWBI. Then create a separate ministry for Animal Welfare since it has reached a stage that it’s grown, matured and needs more attention considering the complex nature of the countries geography. We also demand, that the PCA act is revived and more stringent Laws are made to ensure, culprits are punished severely. This is the need of the hour considering cruelty to animals are increasing day by day, and monitoring and getting the culprits punished take weeks and months.
