I am here to try and make a change giving animal abuse consequences.  I myself own a Pit Bull who used to be an animal abuse victim. Animal Abuse as well as Poaching are very serious issues in the United States that are still prominent.

Anywhere between 6,000 dogs on average to 250,000 animals get hoarded, abused, and or neglected on average each year. Poachers kill on average 96 African Elephants each day. These are just average numbers on some smaller sectors of animal abuse and poaching cases. Hundreds to thousands more incidents happen daily that go unreported. The current punishment for poaching is one year in prison, which is very unfair due to trophy hunters poaching animals out of existence. The current punishment for animal abuse is anywhere between fines to a few years in prison.

My Pit, Luna, is an abuse rescue from Arkansas. She was baited, bred, burned, beaten, used for fighting, had various skin infections, and has PTSD to being around other dogs from her first 4 years of life being in an abusive environment. Luna is very loving and nurturing. She adores children, especially babies. There many of other animals out there who have similar if not worse treatments and environment’s than she had, some of these animals die due to this or die there never being freed or loved. Animals are constantly wrongfully abused and killed and this needs to stop NOW.

 This petition is to eventually bring this all the way up to the White House with time and create punishment time that serves the severity of the crimes. I believe a MINIMUM of 5 years in prison WITH fines should be the basis for animal abuse crime. I also believe a MINIMUM of 10 years in prison WITH fines should be the basis for poaching considering it endangers species much faster.

This ties into Luna’s Law by creating concrete consequences for the severity of the damage being done to innocent animals. Lunas’s Law will also be releasing the ban country wide, keeping the breed off the euthanisation list, and instilling a breed equality law to have consequences to those who abuse animals and or poach in the United States. Fines and a few years in prison clearly do not do enough. We need hard, concrete, prison time to begin the consequence for animal abuse and poaching.
