The Issue

We’ve all seen how important Bojangles on Emory Road in Powell was—it was a staple in so many of our childhoods, elementary school, middle school, and high school years. After practice, before football games, or just those late afternoons when we were catching up with friends that Bojangles was more than just a place to get biscuits. Now, with the location permanently shut down and no longer being rented by Bojangles, we stand at a crossroads that could define the next chapter for us. This building could be so much more than a reminder of what was there it could be a hub for our high school in Powell, a space where we come together, relax, and truly connect. We almost had something like this with the Inskip Grill up the road, but that closed down too, and ever since, there’s been nowhere for us to just be no pressure, no judgment, just a space that feels like ours. This is our chance to change that. Imagine a teen-focused hangout center where we could have after-school programs, a quiet place to study, maybe even some Game/Activities to do. It could be a safe, welcoming place where we can just decompress after a long day of school or Work, or build some friendships that last. Please sign this petition—if we come together, we can take this building and turn it into something that brings us closer, that lets us be seen, and helps us build a better community, something that really matters.
