Tideswell in the Peak District needs a Post Office

Tideswell in the Peak District needs a Post Office
The Issue
Tideswell is the Peak District's largest village, population approaching 1800, and the focal point for the surrounding area. There are 12 further villages and numerous smaller settlements within a radius of five miles.
There has been a Post Office in Tideswell throughout modern history, until September 2019 when the incumbent managers retired and the premises were closed. There are many residents of senior years, a thriving business community and a significant number of visitors all year round. They need Post Office services: a vital hub in this busy rural setting, made more so by the fact that the nearest bank is six miles away.
The Parish Council, supported by other community groups and individuals, has pushed hard for a new facility and encouraged a would-be operator, who owns suitable commercial premises in the centre of the village and has considerable experience of retailing and other consumer services.
The Post Office authorities entered negotiations, appeared to be approving the premises and prospective operator, and it was hoped there would be a go-ahead near the beginning of 2020. Then came coronavirus. The Post Office, hit hard financially, put all new facilities development on hold.
It seems there will be new activity in 2021 but the Post Office has indicated that it would have to be convinced that there is a compelling need in Tideswell and there would be sufficient use by residents, businesses and visitors.
Hence, this request for your support.
