Tramore Eco Group would like to see The Lower Promenade between Moe’s Café and the public toilets pedestrianised.

A promenade should be a paved, public walk, not a one-way road with car parking space for 50+ cars and campervans.

This part of the Prom has several coffee shops, fish and chips, ice cream shop, a skateboard park, a surf club and the National Surf & Lifeguard Training Centre.

A café culture has evolved over the last few years with people gathering after walking, swimming, surfing etc.  It is about time the road was pedestrianised with more tables for people to sit out and enjoy their coffee or ice cream in the fresh air.

In addition to boosting the local cafes, pedestrianised areas make for a healthier and more social community.

This area could also then be used for occasional live music, market stalls and other exciting activities - socially distanced, of course at the present.  Tramore is a lovely place to live and this is an opportunity to make Tramore ‘the place to visit’.

Less cars, either parked or just driving around looking for parking, means less fumes - much safer for all.

There are plenty of car parking spaces right next to the beach and even on very busy days there is plenty of space for parking in the town.

Campervans with engines running (fumes), park in spaces at the skatepark where children play.

The Promenade was brilliant when it was closed during the lockdown period.  One of the cafes opened and we had a week without cars and traffic and everyone was able to have space to drink coffee and talk.   Children were riding their bikes and scooters.  It was a very pleasant atmosphere - then then cars came back.
