The Official Charts Company are trying to falsify the Official UK Singles Chart by giving different streaming ratios to songs that have been on the countdown for 10 weeks or more and are in decline. Long running songs will need to be streamed 300 times in order to achieve a sale to count towards the chart whereas newer songs only need to be streamed 150 times, this blatantly falsifies the chart so it says what the OCC want it to say rather than an accurate reflection of what is popular. If a song is popular for a long time, that should be reflected in the chart. The chart is no longer an accurate reflection of what music is popular in the UK.
The OCC are also capping the number of songs an artist is allowed in the chart at three; again this is blatant chart manipulation, if an artist is extremely popular and people are downloading and streaming multiple tracks by them, this should also be reflected in the Chart. If they were to wish to return to a model of 'Singles' rather than songs involving nomination of Singles from Albums, most Chartanatics would be on board, but this 'Top 3 tracks' rule is farcical.
OCC stop trying to make the chart the way you want it to be and let it reflect what music people are really consuming.
