Reinstate Ryerson University's Homelessness in Canadian Society Course (CINT908)

Reinstate Ryerson University's Homelessness in Canadian Society Course (CINT908)

The Issue

Ryerson University announced that CINT 908: Homelessness in Canadian Society would be cancelled for the Spring 2020 semester amidst the COVID-19 crisis. There is concern that it will not be returning in the future. We are asking for the support of community members, former and future students by signing this petition and sharing with your peers.

CINT- 908 provides an interdisciplinary approach to homelessness. Guest speakers share their lived-experience with students on the impacts of marginalization and homelessness.

Speakers and facilitators are concerned about the cancellation of the class. Particularly at a time when so many are affected by poverty and economic hardship due to the global pandemic.Thousands of students have been impacted by this course over the past decade through the unique experience- based learning it offers.

We, the undersigned, are asking Ryerson Administration to review their decision to cancel the class, commit to offering the class again as soon as possible, and expand this type of learning experience to include opportunities for students to engage directly with social justice issues.
