I am appalled at the attempted “insurrection” against one of America’s most renowned and august rabbis, Arthur Schneier. A leader who has served a congregation for half a century, is respected internationally and a critical voice of our modern history and our collective future - merits to choose the time and circumstance of “handing over of the reigns.” The Park East Synagogue membership must recall how they became a leading American congregation - and conduct a search for a rabbi with the standing, qualification, resource-building and international recognition who possesses the potential to reach the pinnacle of leadership embodied in Rabbi Schneier.
