Long time no see, Tappan Zee friends!  Guess what?  Our tiny petition that started with my original signature back in 2017 is now up to 172,000 today in 2021!  And it looks like we are on track to surpass 200,000 before the end of the year (if not sooner).

Even better news?  Efforts to restore the TAPPAN ZEE name to the Hudson River bridge are once again underway thanks to the following bills:

A6594 (Assemblyman Mike Lawler, sponsor)
S7323 (Senator Mike Martucci, sponsor) 

And... this time, we have a better shot than ever before of getting the name back!  Why?  Well, the tide has shifted dramatically since 2017:  there are now many democrats too who support (or are leaning towards supporting) this effort because they finally are realizing that it's not (and never was) about politics.  

PLEASE contact your Assembly and Senate representatives - Republican or Democrat - and ask them to support the bills and encourage them to sign on as sponsors!  

Points you can make:

* The Tappan Zee name is historical and should never have been changed in the first place. 
* The current trend of politicians - republicans and democrats - naming public structures after themselves or their family members must not be normalized.

And of course please, spread the word!  Spread the link to our petition far and wide.  Via text message.  Social Media.  Email.  Word of mouth!

Finally, watch NBC 4 today.  I was interviewed via zoom for NBC 4 news with Lynda Baquero!  I hope it results in even more people signing on to our effort.

Momentum is with us but if we wait, the effort may stall.  Try to get ONE MORE PERSON to sign today if you can.
