Hi All,

Dr. Monroe Mann here, the gent who started the petition, and the Executive Director of "Save Our Tappan Zee, Inc."

I know it seems like the movement is dead, but please, do not lose hope.

REMEMBER THIS: Andrew Cuomo will not be governor forever.

Eventually, we will have an opportunity to change the name back.  It may take 5, 10, or 20 years, and maybe this fight will go on long after I am gone.  It's hard to say given today's political climate.

However, we here at SOTZ will not just throw in the towel.  We are playing the long game.

As such, the board of directors has decided to go into 'hibernation mode'.  We aren't giving up.  We are just choosing to wait.  So we will not be having regular strategic board meetings anymore.  We are no longer trying to hatch new ideas to get the name back.  The truth is: nothing we do right now is going to change anything.

However, if you notice, people keep signing this petition.  We are up to 118,000 signatures now.  The last time I checked about a year and a half ago, we were at 114,000.  So we're now 4,000 stronger!

So what's the new mission?  Easy: keep adding names to this petition.  Please post the change.org link on social media. That will help.  You can even pay change.org $20, and it will get promoted, and even more people will find it and sign it.

Do you remember when this petition got so many signatures that the governor had to respond to it?  True, his response was, "Go away, you insignificant peons!  I want to name a bridge after my daddy and history be damned! GET OFF MY BRIDGE!"

Okay, so the petition didn't result in him coming to his senses.  But... it did get everyone's attention.

Well, can you imagine once the petition hits 150,000?  Then 200,000?  Then 500,000?  We WILL get media coverage again.  Can you imagine if we get it to 1,000,000 people?  It's not going to stop as long as we keep reminding people.  People are going to keep signing this thing.  And it's our simple job to keep the petition signing happening.  Right?  Right.

One note: we have had about $2,000 in our bank account ever since this all wound down about 2 years ago.  We haven't spent any money on anything.  Any donations we receive just keep getting added to the total.  One day, we hope to have enough to rent the billboards, and take out ads.  We have decided precisely what we will do with any money that comes in: absolutely nothing.  So if you want to donate, 100% of that money will go to our advertising fund.  100%.

Anyway, thanks for reading.  I hope all of you are doing really well!  Stay safe.  Wear your masks.  And keep spreading the word!   With all of this disgusting statue toppling going on around the country, at least we can take solace knowing that this 'anti-America' behavior is not limited just to Governor Cuomo--it's sadly pervasive across this entire country.

Let's keep pushing forward to save our bridge!  THE TAPPAN ZEE BRIDGE!
