Save Surfside’s beaches before it’s too late!

The Issue

The Town of Surfside's new Commission is pushing to undo the essential beach protections that have kept our beaches pristine for the past few years. Our current regulations (Ordinance 2020-1714) limit commercialization and successfully protect our fragile beach environment and safe public access.

The new commission’s proposed changes will dramatically increase development, decimate public access, pollute our environment, and privatize our sandy public shores.

Changes include excessive increases in beach furniture capacity, daytime storage, motorized vehicles, fewer cleanups, and pre-setting empty chairs as early as sunrise when baby sea turtles may still be trying to find their way to the ocean.

Our uniquely uncluttered beach will soon be crowded with hotel chairs and stacks of furniture and towel tents. Our pedestrian path will be crisscrossed by motorized furniture transport. Private pre-setting and unlimited capacity will leave too little space for residents and visitors to enjoy our public beach.

Surfside's nesting sea turtles need our help!

You don't have to live in Surfside to help save Surfside's beaches, which are public & belong to EVERYONE. Your voice matters!

If you are concerned about the ecological impact of commercial development on one of the last remaining natural stretches of Miami Beach, please sign our petition to tell the Commission NOT to mess with the magic and protect our beach!
