Make em Eat Their Words
Growing up as a kid in Western MA I wanted so badly to be the best son, friend, and person. But like most I was told I fell short being black and gay (it wasn't as accepted in the 80s and 90s as it is today). Teased at home and school really forced me to rely on myself. It also forced me to be self-motivated and self-reliant.
In 2007 I had the tools emotionally and physically to move out. I moved to Boston and stayed there for 4 years. Unfortunately in 2011 someone very close to me died. I decided to regroup AND regain my financial footing to move back home with my mother and brother. This has been the worse decision I have ever made. I love being close to my friend's family and seeing my friends I moved away from. But it's reassured me of one thing: I'm living with blood relatives NOT family.
I decided not only to finish writing my book but then to self publish it on August 7, 2011. It's called Who I Am and What I Want. Take your average love story of boy meets girl, boy loses girl then boy and girl find their way back to each other...only this girl is a transwoman.
True to form my mother said nothing would come of this. Well I want to prove her wrong. This is not a marketing tactic to sell books. I am currently seeking other avenues to do that. This is an immediate action for me as I will use the money raised from this petition to actually move out into my own place in Western MA.
A MAJOR side effect is some gay teen stumbling across my story and decides NOT to hurt themselves. Decides to live and soldier on through whatever TEMPORARY crisis they may have. I'm tired of waiting for change; I want to be change.

I hope that someday someone tells you you can't accomplish a dream you have and you aren't going anywhere. And I hope the very next day you prove to them you can and did!
Thank you sooo much for your support!
