This petition is promoted by MYCELIA, an organization founded by recording artist Imogen Heap, to connect the dots for a fair trade music ecosystem. 

Those working in the music community need a home, a place people can identify with them and be able to find verified, authenticated information about their work that could in turn power a much needed open global public database for music.

 The decision as to who acquires the global Top Level Domain (gTLD) .Music is imminent. We urge the winner of the .Music gTLD to consider our hopes.

 We believe it is necessary and much needed that the .Music addresses are owned and authenticated by those working within the music community. Enabling anyone, fans and services alike, to find and connect to verified information on an artist and their works. 

 We wish, that a portion of the yearly subscriptions paid to the vendor for the .music domain name, goes into a not for profit organisation who will work with and act on behalf of the music community, to build and protect an open global music database. This would be for the benefit of all those who work with and love music. 

 We feel this will create the most viable and sustainable future for a fair trade music ecosystem.
